National College Instrumentation Facility is a central facility and houses high value advanced analytical equipment. This facility has been created with an objective is to provide services to all researchers and students of science departments in the College.
The facilities are extensively used by Post Graduate Students, Doctoral Research Scholars and Sponsored Projects for Advanced Research. This facility is also extended to External Organizations, mainly academic institutions of the region on nominal charges.
Training programs and workshops/seminars are organized regularly for laboratory staff and research scholars in focused areas of materials characterization and analysis.
Presently around 35 Doctoral Research Scholars from the Departments of Physics, Botany, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Microbiology and Zoology are working regularly in the lab.

Various instrumentation facilities at NCIF may be availed by researchers and academicians around the State of Tamil Nadu under nominal charges. The samples should be submitted in the prescribed format indicating the information requested for as well as special requirements, if any. The samples may be registered for analysis and taken up for measurement as per the number the availability of time and priority. The users have to collect the result/data either in electronic form or in hardcopy from the NCIF Office or through email on special request.
The facility is also open for visitors such as academicians, Scholars and Students of other Institutions upon requests. Visits are being allowed to help students understand the principles and operational methods of the respective instruments. It also helps students to motivate students to pursue research.
For internal samples (within the College) the student/faculty member has to submit the filled-in application form for instrument signed by the respective departmental head during submission of samples. The charges may be deducted from the annual research budget of the specific department or project fund (if any). For others, the payment has to be made in the form of demand draft (DD) drawn in favour of The Principal, National College, Trichy, payable at Trichy.
