About the Department

The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1990 with all the infrastructural facilities and teaching staff. Initially the Department offered Bachelor of Computer Science (B.Sc., Computer Science). The department was headed by Mr. Sathyanarayanan and by Mr. R.T. Ashok Kumar till 2006. Then the department is being headed by Dr. P.S.S. Akilashri since 2007. Bharathidasan University granted provisional affiliation to start M.Sc., (Computer Science) in the year 2006.

The Department of Computer Science was upgraded to Research Department with Master of Philosophy (M.Phil., Computer Science) in the year 2016. The Department is recognized as Research center by Bharathidasan University in the year 2019, for carrying out research work, leading to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. Computer Science). Department is stepping to a new milestone to introduce B.Sc., Data Science and M.Sc., Data Science in the upcoming years. The department also aims with the speed of modern technological standard to face the competitive environment in the fields.
