About The Department
The Department of Computer Applications was established in the year 1998 with all the facilities and teaching staff. The department was headed by Mr. Sathyanarayanan and by Mr. R.T. Ashok Kumar till 2006. Then the department has been headed by Dr. P.S.S. Akilashri from 2007 till 2021.At present the department is head by Dr. M. Anusha. The department contains eminent and eligible faculties with two Ph.D research supervisors approved by Bharathidasan University and department holds 8 research scholars with three full-time scholars. Department is also strengthen with the faculty who completed SET and three faculty members pursuing Ph.D. The year 2021 – 2022 department is enriched with research activities by means of Patent publications and research publications. The student strength in the year 2010 was 196 and it rapidly increased to 404 at present.
AT National College, Computer Science department prepares studetns to contribute to teh advancement of Society and Country by large.
VISION
The Department of Computer Applications aims to generate groomed, technically competent and skilled intellectual professionals specifically from the rural area to meet the current challenges of the modern computing industry. To Stout up (study a subject intensively) / polish up the ethical as well as technical skills in students so that they will become the preferable choice of a prospective employer.
MISSION
To provide a stimulating and motivating environment to exploit the full potential of the students. To prepare them to pursue exemplary careers in industries, academia and research. Grooming youth to become a truly global personality endowed to deal with the modern world and its challenges. To impart the ability to use the expertise in computing to meet the ever growing demands of the society.

Apart from regular Computer Science Association Activities, the Department has organized the following events in the past few years
- One day Workshop on Android and Multimedia was organized by the Department of Computer Science on 12-10-2012.
- One Day Seminar on “You can be On your Own” Recent Trends in Graphic Designing Advertising and Branding was organized by the Department of Computer Science on 28-02-2013.
- A One Day Workshop on Soft Skill was conducted by the Department of Computer Science on 25-09-2009.
- A Special Programme entitled NACOTECH 2010 was conducted by the Department of Computer Science on 15-02-2010. Inter Collegiate competitions on Computer related topics were conducted during the Programme.
