2013 - 2014

Inauguration of Sports Chapter – Arjuna

The National College Sports Chapter 2013 named “Arjuna”, was inaugurated on 27th June 2013 by Sri. Muralikrishnan, Founder Secretary Ramakrishna Sarada Samiti.


The Golden Girl

Ms. M.Aishwariaya I M.Sc Mathematics, has to her credit a row of achievements. She participated in the fifth National level tournament held at Mumbai and won gold and silver medals. She attended the All India Level Kung Fu and Karate Tournament held at Trichy and came first in open Shai and senior level Girls Kata. Altogether she has competed in 23 tournaments and bagged 21 gold medals and 11 silver medals in two categories - Weaton and Kata.


The National Colour

Shri.B.Mugesh of II B.Sc.Physical Education is a raw hand hailing from one of the hamlets of Thanjavur district. He has represented the country in the Asian Games in Cycling, held at the capital in June 2013.


Educational Tour

A fifty-member team of B.Sc., Physical Education students visited Ramakrishna Mission, Chennai on an Educational Tour from 10th to 12th August, 2013.


Sports Diplomacy

An intercollegiate staff cricket tournament was conducted during August 2013. 16 Colleges participated. Imayam College won the Championship and St. Joseph’s College are the runners.


Bharathidasan University Cricket Champions

Our college cricket team has been crowned as the champion in cricket in the inter-collegiate cricket tournament conducted by the Bharthidasan University. This is the second consequtive win.

Aerobic dance

A special aerobic dance programme was organised by the Department on January 12th, 2014. The resource person was Dr Jothi Dayanandan, Associate Professor, from YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai.


Felicitation for Queen of Chess

Ms. Jennitha Anto, the World Champion in Chess 2013 under the differently abled category was honoured in our college in a function held on the 15th of August 2013.


Fastest Sprinter

Our college champion A. Murugan of II B.Sc., Physical Education became the individual champion in 100 meters and 200 meters dash, for the second time in the district meet. He clapped 11.2 seconds in 100 meters. He has been adjudged as the fastest athlete of the district in junior level category.


2012 - 2013

A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports Sciences has been introduced in this Academic Year (2012 – 2013) under the unaided programme. The Department of Physical Education publishes an International Journal named Health, Fitness and Sports Sciences with ISSN Number from this year onwards.

In the First issue 24 peer reviewed research papers were published. A function to release the first issue was held on 10-04-2013. Mr. W.I. Devaram, Former DGP, released the first issue and Mr.K.Balamurugan, Regional Passport Officer, Tiruchirapalli received the first issue. A panel discussion was also held soon after the release. 94th Annual Sports Day of our College was celebrated on 15-02-2013.

Prof. Dr. M.S. Nagarajan, Director, Special Olympics, Asia Pacific was the Chief Guest. Shri.B.Mugesh of I B.Sc.Physical Education, a raw hand from a hamlet in Thanjavur district, was selected to represent the country in the Asian Games in Cycling held in New Delhi in January 2013. He also represented the All India Inter University Cycling Event in December 2012.

After the lapse of 18 years, our college team has been crowned as the champion in cricket in the intercollegiate cricket tournament conducted by Bharthidasan University.

2011 - 2012

93rd Annual Sports Day of our College was celebrated on 27-02-2012.

Thiru.C. Samuel Chelliah, Youth Officer & Head, NSS Regional Centre, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Thiruvanathapuram, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest.

Our College Cricket Team and Football Team moved up from II to I Division.

Cricket legend Sri Krishnamachari Srikanth, former captain, Indian cricket team visited our College and motivated our players to remain resolutely focused on the career.

Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli has given affiliation to the department to conduct Research leading to Ph.D. Degree.

“National College Sports Academy” has been instituted in the campus to give adequate training in Sports and games for the interested and potential School and College students of this region. The Academy focuses on Cricket, football, athletics and martial arts like Kung-foo/Teak-kwondo.

2010 - 2011

92nd Annual Sports Day of our College was held on 25-01-2011.

Mr. G.P. Sajith Babu, Youth Officer & Head, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt. of India, NSS Regional Centre, Chennai was the Chief Guest.

Inter Collegiate Kabbadi Tournament of Trichy division of Bharathidasan University was conducted in our College on 12th & 13th October 2010.

Our College Cricket Team moved up from III to II Division and Our College Football Team moved up from II to I Division.

Mr. Prem Kumar of III B.Com won a Gold medal in the Best Physique competition of the Bharathidasan University inter college competitions.

Miss. M. Aishwariaya of II B.Sc Maths won Gold Medal in Kata Category in Kung-fu at National Level. She has won 21 Gold Medals and 11 Silver Medals so far.

Mr. R. Dharmalingam, II M.Com, has won a number of prizes in Marathon Competition in State Level Events.

2009 - 2010

The 91st Annual Sports Day of our College was held on 18.09.2009.

Dr. K. Vaithyanathan, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai was the Chief Guest.

Our College Cricket team won the Inter Collegiate Balaji Catering Cricket Tournament.

Our College Football team entered semi finals in the Inter Collegiate competitions of Trichy zone of Bharathidasan University.

Our College Kabaddi team won Inter Collegiate competitions, Trichy zone of Bharathidasan University and entered inter zone competitions.

Mr. S. Vinothkumar, I B.A. History finished in VIII place in the 12 km cross country race conducted at Pudukkottai. He also finished Chennai Marathan in 16th position and receive a cash prize of Rs.2000/-

Mr. M. Ravikumar, I B.Com finished in III place in 800 meters race conducted at Anna Stadium, Trichy.

Mr. B. Nirmal Kumar, won the First prize in District Level 1500 meters race conducted at Ariyalur.

L. Arikiamany and S. Sasikala were selected for District Level teams of Volley ball.

Mr. S. Vinoth Kumar, participated in 12 Km cross country race conducted by Mahathma Gandhi University, Kerala, Mr. T. Sudharsan, participated in Kabaddi tournament conducted at Kuvempu University, Shimoga and Mr. D. Rajesh Kumar participated in Power Lifting conducted at Gurunank Dev University, Punjab.

Bharathidasan University Inter Collegiate Trichy division men Volley Ball tournament was conducted on 26-27, August 2009 in our College. Bharathidasan University Inter zone Volley Ball tournament was conducted on 3 - 4 September 2009.

Our College Kabaddi-team made a remarkable performance and acquired the Zonal Title from the St.Joseph’s College, Trichy who remained champions for the past two-decades.

Our College Cricket team was crowned as champions of Bharathidasan University Cricket tournament by winning over Government Arts College, Musiri, Government Arts College-Karur, Kongu Arts and Science College, Karur, Khader Mohideen College of Arts and Sciences, Adiramapattinam and St. Joseph’s College, Trichy.

In foot ball again, our College made its mark by winning the Trichy District First Division League Tournament held in August 2012. The foot ball team of our College won the Southern Railways, Customs and Students Club teams in OFT Tournament. During this tournament Mr. Bastin of II B.Sc. Physics of our College was selected as the best striker of the tournament.

When cricket can bind the relation between the neighboring countries through sports diplomacy, it can also contribute to promoting good relationship between the colleges. With such good intention, our college conducts Inter-collegiate staff tournament in cricket, annually. 16 Colleges participated in this tournament conducted in August 2012. MIT college won the Championship and we were the runners.

An intercollegiate cricket tournament was organized during Pongal Season for the students of the Colleges affiliated to Bharthidasan University. The pattern of the competition was league cum knock-out. Six teams, participated. Pudukkotai Recreation Club won the title and we were the runners up.

National College Sports Academy was founded in the year 2011. It’s aim is to provide chance for the potential children and budding youth through intensive training to enhance professional skills. Cricket, Foot Ball, Athletics, and martial arts like Kung-Fu, Taekwondo are the top categories in which the country needs real talents and the Academy provides quality training on these.
