WHO CAN APPLY

Who can apply under the International student category?

Foreign nationals, PIO card holders, OCI (Dual citizens), NRI students, and NRI sponsored students can apply under the category of International students.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Bachelor Degree certificate along with marks sheet/transcript need to be produced when reporting for classes. Both front and back sides of the mark sheet are to be copied and sent in order to get additional information about the grade equivalence, passing requirements etc. If the content in the marks sheet is not in English, then the certified English translated version must also be submitted in addition to the native language certificate. In case the results have not been released, then the predicted marks/grades or the term result of the qualifying examination must be submitted.

  • Copy of the passport of the applicant (Personal details page)

  • Soft copy of the latest Passport size colour photograph

  • Certificate of English language requirement: IELTS(academic) = 6.0 OR TOEFL(IBT) = 60-78/TOEFL(paper) = 513-547

SELECTION AND ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Enrollment is the process of verifying the original certificates, obtaining declarations from the parents / student, and issuing the Admit Card, on arrival to the campus. The College will send a separate communication detailing the procedure for commencement of classes and other information necessary for completing the admission formalities. The candidates are advised to look at the website for the actual date of commencement of first year classes.

Registration

Students are advised to reach National College at least 2-3 days prior to the commencement of classes and report to the Office / Department of Biotechnology to complete the above admission formalities. The following documents in original are to be submitted at the time of registration:

  • Degree or Pass certificate of the qualifying examination

  • Grade/mark sheet of the qualifying examination

  • Translated versions of all documents, if they are not in English

  • Copy of Passport with a valid student visa (Original will be returned after verification)

  • Equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities wherever applicable

  • Migration Certificate (If applicable)

  • Recent Passport-size photographs – 15 Nos. (May be required at different departments)

Only after the admission formalities are completed, will the student be permitted to attend classes.

Security Registration

It is part of the normal mandatory process that within the stipulated timeframe of arrival in India, the student has to register his / her name with the police in the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The timeframe may vary from 24 hours to 14 days of arrival depending on the country of origin. A student with a PIO card also must register at the FRRO. Only OCI card holders need not register. National College would only provide necessary assistance in this regard. The applicable immigration processing fees and other related expenses have to be additionally borne by the student

Program Change

No change of Program is allowed after the issue of confirmed admission letter.

SUPPORT AND SERVICES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Office of International Affairs (OIA) is a nodal point to contact for any query regarding admissions of International Students or for Study abroad programs.

Admissions are based on academic performance in the UG / equivalent examination and satisfying the guidelines of the Department of Biotechnology. The admission procedure, application form (online as well as hard copy), fees etc are all different from those for the domestic students.

  • Reception and orientation – New international students are welcome to register with the OIA to receive important information about settling into their new environment. The orientation programs also includes trips and tours around campus and City.

  • English Conversation Programme – If English isn’t your first language, this is your opportunity to improve your English language skills.

  • Cross-cultural counseling – Our cross-cultural counselor provides culturally sensitive counseling to students on personal issues. Feel free to discuss anything from family problems to depression to self-esteem.

  • Social and cultural events – The OIA offers students a taste of South India and various cultures by hosting cultural and social activities.

Examination and Award of Degree

The process of examination, grading, and award of the degree is no different from that of Indian students.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE ON FAST TRACK

Please note that the office of the Department of Biotechnology @ National College which handles the admission of Foreign students into MSc. Biotechnology and PG Diploma in Bioprocess Technology, works predominantly through email. The applicants are also encouraged and advised to use the electronic media most effectively.

  • Fill up the application carefully without missing any detail. If the marks are not known or not available at the time of filling the application, please indicate “Results are awaited” in the marks/grade column.

  • After filling up the form completely, take a scan copy and send it to the mail id: mohamedjaabir@nct.ac.in (Please do not send, mail to any other mail id)

  • Intimate the submission of scanned copy of the application form by telephone +91 9514872917 (or) +91 9786425226 if possible.

  • Wait for the confirmation to be received in your mail inbox to make payment of the Semester Fee / Admission Fee

  • Make the payment of Admission Fee / Semester Fee by online Transfer to the Bank Details that will be provided by e-mail.

  • Print your confirmation of payment and produce it when you report for your classes
